People Who Care has a two vacancies for Home Maintenance Workers:

Mandurah and Wangara

Full Time – 38 hours per week    

 

People Who Care provides a broad range of assistance and support services to seniors to allow them to be as independent as possible. People Who Care are a well-established charitable organisation providing practical support and welfare assistance to nearly three thousand financially disadvantaged West Australian’s.

Operating across the Metropolitan and South West area, our service delivery is supported by our extensive and broadly skilled volunteer base who are committed to providing excellence in enriching the lives of the elderly, younger disabled and disadvantaged members of the community.

 

We are seeking two Home Maintenance Workers.  One to join our Wangara office and the other our Mandurah office to assist us to deliver a variety of in home support services to our clients on a fulltime basis.

 

The successful applicants will ideally have the ability to communicate with aged or disabled clients with different needs and experience in working with volunteers. All applicants must be able to demonstrate the below skills.

 

Specific skills required for the Home Maintenance Worker;

  • An ability to work in the outdoors and undertake manual activities;
  • An ability to manage people working in an outdoor setting;
  • A minimum of 2 years gardening experience;
  • Understanding of volunteerism;
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal ;
  • An ability to understand and respond appropriately to clients’ needs and wants;
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook and navigation of the internet). Knowledge of SMS software is an advantage;
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as a part of a team.

 

Non-essential but preference will be given to those with not-for-profit experience.

All applicants must have a National Police Certificate no older than 3 months, a current driver’s licence and be prepared to undertake a pre-employment physical assessment.
