People Who Care operate the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme across the greater metropolitan area, to older people living in residential aged care and in their own homes.

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is a free, commonwealth funded service to provide companionship and friendship to people experiencing social isolation

Our amazing volunteers visit regularly, and bring great social connection to their clients,who quickly become friends.

Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme

How do I refer someone to access the ACVVS program?

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme may be accessed by a referral from your aged care home care package provider or the residential aged care facility to our ACVVS Coordinator. You may refer direct to our ACVVS Coordinator who can progress your referral with your agency.

How often are the visits?

We encourage our volunteers to visit weekly.

Can I go out into the community with the volunteer or are the visits in the home only?

Generally the visits occur in the home. In some instances it may be possible to go out with a volunteer visitor, and this can be discussed with the ACVVS Coordinator at the time of referral.
